IME5172 - Developing A Family Ministry

Course Description

This course will explore developing or expanding a children's ministry program into a family ministry. Though primary emphasis will be on practical implementation, (creating as child friendly church atmosphere, planning family activities and worship times, helping parents spiritually nurture their children, reaching families through children's ministries, ministering to families in crisis), the historical and theological foundations for family ministry will also be investigated.

Course Objectives

  1. Provide practical advice for expanding children's ministries to include reaching the entire family.
  2. Provide practical advice for creating a "child-friendly" atmosphere in your local church.
  3. Provide resources for assisting parents in the spiritual formation of their children.
  4. Investigate and formalize a theological foundation for family ministry.
